Job summary

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH) seeks a Security Manager to lead a team of security officers responsible for protecting gallery spaces and museum assets. You will supervise scheduling, training, incident reporting, and day-to-day operations, while ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for visitors, staff, and volunteers.

Strong leadership and clear communication are essential, as is the ability to respond decisively to emergencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or five years of related security management experience.
• Minimum three years supervising security staff.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ability to obtain licenses as required by MFAH.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership to a team of Security Officers (up to 20).
• Oversee post assignments, attendance, and performance evaluations with the Assistant Head of Security – Galleries.
• Prepare written incident and security reports; conduct trainings and briefings.
• Enforce MFAH security policies and ensure safety of visitors and staff.
• Coordinate security operations during openings, events, and emergencies.
