Job summary

The MFAH is seeking dependable protection professionals with customer service skills to join the Gallery Attendant team. You will protect artworks, maintain order, assist visitors, and reduce risk across gallery spaces.

This full- or part-time, non-exempt role requires a high level of awareness, professionalism, and collaboration with the Security Manager. Evening, weekend, and event coverage is expected.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal and public relations skills with a friendly manner.
• Neat, clean appearance and professional conduct at all times.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; security experience preferred.
• Must be able to obtain First Responder/CPR certifications yearly.
• Ability to stand, walk, and respond quickly in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Performs patrols of assigned galleries, welcoming and informing guests.
• Monitor for theft, vandalism, disruption; report irregularities.
• Interact with visitors, provide directions and assistance.
• Inspect displays and report issues to Security Manager.
• Respond to alarms, emergencies, and evacuations as needed.
• Escort visitors and contractors and ensure safety protocols.
• Maintain knowledge of museum policies and safety procedures.
• Work variable shifts, including evenings, weekends and events.
