Job summary

DEFTEC Corporation in New London, CT, seeks an Information Technology (IT) Specialist to keep museum systems reliable, secure, and visitor-ready.

You will manage networks, data protection, access, and support gallery and AV systems, while coordinating with Exhibits Tech and AV staff to keep displays and interactive features running.

The ideal candidate has 3–6 years IT experience, a BS in CS/IT (or equivalent), applicable certifications, and the ability to obtain a Tier 1/NACI clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or related field preferred, but experience and certifications may substitute.
• Three to six years of systems administration or technical support experience, preferably in high uptime environments.
• Tier 1/NACI background clearance required at hire.
• Industry certifications including CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+. Cloud (AWS/Azure) or Google Workspace Admin are valued.
• Proficiency managing Windows and macOS environments.
• Experience with VLANs, VPNs, and robust Wi‑Fi networks.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity practices, data protection, and cloud/hybrid systems.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain internal and public networks for reliability.
• Provide IT support for gallery and theater systems, including AV, streaming, and lighting.
• Handle data backup, restoration, and data‑protection tasks per procedures.
• Process and track account requests, onboarding, and off‑boarding with proper access controls.
• Maintain visitor Wi‑Fi isolated from secure internal networks.
• Collaborate with Exhibits Tech and AV staff to keep displays and interactive components functioning.
