Job description

Information Technology (IT) Specialist

We are inspired by our clients' critical missions and driven to provide the most effective solutions to execute their missions, operational challenges, and requirements. Our dedicated, experienced, and talented employees work closely with our clients to ensure the delivery of exceptional services and products.

Position Overview:

The Information Technology (IT) Specialist is responsible for keeping the museum's technology reliable, secure, and visitor-ready across both internal operations and public-facing spaces. In this role, you will monitor and maintain internal and public networks, perform approved backup, restoration, and data-protection tasks within your assigned scope, and process and track authorized account requests, permissions, onboarding, and off-boarding through Government-approved procedures, without granting access outside delegated authority. You will also provide technical support for gallery and theater systems and approved museum events, including presentation, streaming, lighting-control, and related systems, and work alongside the Exhibits Tech and AV Media Specialist to keep digital displays, sensors, and interactive components functioning. In addition, you will manage the visitor Wi‑Fi portal to deliver a smooth guest experience while keeping it physically isolated from secure internal databases. The ideal candidate has three to six years of systems-administration or technical-support experience (ideally in a museum, library, gallery, or other high‑uptime environment), a bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience and certifications), and industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+, with cloud or Google Workspace credentials highly valued. Strong skills in Windows and macOS environments, VLANs, VPNs, high‑capacity Wi‑Fi, cybersecurity, cloud and SaaS platforms, and hardware troubleshooting are essential, while familiarity with digital asset management, AV integration, disaster recovery, and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non‑technical staff and volunteers are strongly preferred. The selected candidate must obtain and clear a Tier 1/NACI background clearance at hire.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Network Uptime: Monitor and maintain internal and public networks to ensure reliable connectivity.
  • Data Protection: Perform approved backup, restoration, and data‑protection tasks for systems within the Contractor's assigned scope.
  • Access Management Support: Process and track authorized account requests, permissions, onboarding, and off‑boarding through Government‑approved procedures. The Contractor shall not grant access outside delegated authority.
  • Gallery and theater Event Technical Support: Provide technical support for gallery and theater systems and approved museum events, including presentation, streaming, lighting‑control, and related systems within the assigned scope.
  • Interactive Maintenance: Work with the Exhibits Tech and AV Media Specialist to ensure digital displays, sensors, and interactive components remain functional.
  • Event Tech: Support events with live‑streaming configurations, lighting control setups, or AV presentations.
  • Visitor Wi‑Fi: Manage the visitor portal to ensure a smooth guest experience while maintaining physical isolation from secure internal databases.
Required Qualifications:
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred however; professional experience and certifications may be considered for substitution
  • A Tier 1/NACI Background Clearance will be obtained by the candidate at hire and must successfully complete and clear the process.
  • Experience: Three (3) to six (6) years of systems‑administration or technical‑support experience. Experience in a museum, library, gallery, public attraction, or other high‑ uptime environment is preferred.
  • Certifications: Industry standard certifications including CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+. Cloud certifications (AWS/Azure) or Google Workspace Administration are highly valued.
  • Technical Stack: Proficiency in managing both Windows and macOS environments.
  • Knowledge and Experience:
  • Network Infrastructure: Hands‑on experience with VLANs, VPNs, and robust Wi‑Fi mesh networks capable of handling hundreds of concurrent museum guests.
