Job summary

Holocaust Museum Houston seeks an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead and oversee all HR functions, shaping a compliant and positive workplace. You will guide recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and performance management while partnering with leadership and external HR consultants to implement policies and programs.

The role focuses on benefits, training, development, and salary administration to support retention and a strong workplace culture in a nonprofit museum setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Five or more years of progressively responsible human resources experience.
• Experience managing or overseeing multiple areas of human resources including employee relations, recruitment, benefits, performance management, and employment compliance.
• Experience supporting supervisors and managers with employee relations and performance issues preferred.
• SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, PHR, SPHR, or other HR certification preferred.
• Experience working in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Museum’s human resources functions.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and offboarding.
• Maintain and administer HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook.
• Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations.
• Manage employee benefits, leave administration, workers’ compensation, and unemployment claims.
• Advise and support supervisors and leadership on employee relations, performance, and disciplinary matters.
• Coordinate the annual performance review process and support employee development.
• Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records and HRIS systems.
• Support training and leadership development for supervisors and staff.
• Partner with leadership to support employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture.
• Oversee compensation benchmarking and salary administration.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
