Job summary

Baxter & Woodman is seeking a Municipal Services Project Manager in our Municipal Services Department. The role involves reviewing development proposals, coordinating with village staff and engineers, and ensuring compliance with local requirements to deliver capital projects for municipal clients.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s in civil engineering, 4+ years municipal experience, and an Illinois PE license or plan to obtain within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and licensed or ability to obtain Illinois PE within 12 months.
• 4+ years of municipal government or development project experience requiring municipal permits.
• Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical staff, officials and residents.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and review engineering submittals with municipal and B&W staff.
• Respond to inquiries from Village Staff, developers, designers and property owners.
• Review development plans for compliance with local requirements including stormwater and transportation.
• Coordinate work across municipal, county departments and B&W staff.
• Prepare written development review reports and assist with budgets.
• Provide on-site construction inspection services for municipal projects.
• Mentor less-experienced Municipal Services Engineers and travel as needed.
