Job summary

Baxter & Woodman is seeking a Senior Municipal Services Engineer to support municipal clients across Illinois from multiple office locations, including Bannockburn and surrounding communities. The role emphasizes capital projects, grant funding, and regulatory compliance, working closely with village administrators and staff.

You will lead engineering solutions, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate with engineers, developers, and permitting agencies to deliver robust public infrastructure

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and PE licensure required.
• Certified Floodplain Manager Certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• 8+ years of experience working for municipal governments or development projects.
• Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical municipal staff, officials and residents.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering expertise for public infrastructure and capital projects.
• Coordinate with village staff, developers, and officials.
• Lead capital improvement and grant/loan funding efforts.
• Mentor less-experienced Municipal Services Engineers.
• Prepare and review development plans for compliance.
