Job summary

Baxter & Woodman is seeking a Senior Municipal Services Engineer in our Municipal Services Department to coordinate directly with Village administrators and staff on public infrastructure and capital projects. You will provide engineering expertise, respond to inquiries, and support development proposals across multiple agencies.

The role emphasizes leadership in capital projects, grant funding efforts, and mentoring junior engineers, with travel across Northeastern Illinois as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and IL PE license.
• 8+ years of municipal government or development project experience.
• Floodplain manager certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Village administrators and staff on public infrastructure and capital projects.
• Review development plans for compliance with local requirements and stormwater provisions.
• Manage capital improvement projects and coordinate with multiple agencies for funding.
• Prepare development review reports and written municipal budgets.
• Mentor less‑experienced Municipal Services Engineers and provide technical guidance.
