Job summary

Nordstrom in Palo Alto is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to support multiple Nordstrom stores. You will perform preventive maintenance on buildings, systems, and grounds, using carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC skills. You’ll read blueprints, assist with troubleshooting, manage work orders, and ensure safety standards are met.

The role requires a GED or high school diploma and at least one year of related experience. A flexible schedule and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with 1+ year related experience or training.
• Ability to understand directions and follow procedures in writing and verbally.
• Strong written and verbal communication; flexible schedule readiness.
• Detail-oriented with accuracy and prioritization skills.
• Entry level proficiency with power tools; willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily preventive maintenance and on-demand requests from Sales Floor with accurate records.
• Conduct daily inspections and building rounds.
• Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on buildings and installed systems (plumbing, roofs, HVAC, etc.).
• Maintain lighting systems and replace bulbs/lamps as needed.
• Read electrical schematics and blueprints to troubleshoot issues.
• Operate tools safely; provide customer service and escalate emergencies when required.
• Follow safety rules and company directives for building operations.
