Job summary

Ochsner Health seeks a Maintenance Technician to respond to departmental needs, repair or replace equipment, and perform preventive maintenance across hospital and clinic areas. You will troubleshoot electro/mechanical systems using specialized tools and work with various trades within a hospital environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 2 years of maintenance experience (or completion of the Ochsner Apprenticeship), and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years of experience in commercial, industrial or hospital maintenance or completion of the Ochsner Apprenticeship program.
• Valid driver’s license in the state of residence required.
• Familiar with plumbing, electrical, HVAC-R and carpentry.
• Ability to work on-call for emergencies and extended hours.
• Knowledge of state, parish and building codes and JCAHO standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform general inspections, troubleshooting and repairs of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing items in hospital/clinic settings.
• Respond to and repair specialty systems (nurse call, fire alarm, television, medical gas, ceiling systems).
• Complete preventive maintenance inspections and document results.
• Assist with maintenance on equipment within assigned areas.
• Support other departments with daily maintenance and facility upkeep.
