Job summary

Salt Dental Partners is seeking a Payroll Specialist to manage multi-state payroll across several entities from our Phoenix office, with a transition to a hybrid schedule after 90 days. You will audit timekeeping, handle off-cycle payments, garnishments, and year-end taxes, while partnering with HR, Benefits, and Accounting to keep payroll accurate and on time.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience, including multi-state payroll and processing for multiple entities.
• Solid working knowledge of federal and multi-state payroll tax and wage and hour regulations.
• Working understanding of payroll tax agency notices and resolution processes.
• Comfort with high-volume payroll (hundreds of employees).
• Strong Excel skills with formulas and pivot tables.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and discretion with confidential data.
• High school diploma or GED; an Associate's degree is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process full-cycle, multi-state payroll across multiple entities on bi-weekly or semi-monthly schedules.
• Review and audit timekeeping data, new hires, terminations, and rate changes before runs.
• Calculate and process off-cycle payments, retroactive adjustments, garnishments, bonuses, and final pay.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws across jurisdictions.
• Reconcile payroll registers, tax filings, and GL entries with FP&A or Accounting.
• Serve as a resource for employees and managers via ticketing system.
• Maintain accurate payroll records, tax elections, direct deposits, and deductions.
• Support quarter/year-end processes, W-2 and 941 preparation, audits, and unemployment/workers' comp reporting.
• Collaborate with Benefits on deductions during open enrollment and year-round.
• Assist with payroll system testing, upgrades, and process improvements.
• Support payroll integration for newly acquired practices during growth/MA.
