Job summary

Salt Dental Partners seeks a Payroll Manager to own our multi-state, multi-entity payroll end to end. You will lead a small payroll team, manage relationships with ADP Workforce Now and vendors, and partner with Finance, HR, and Legal to resolve complex questions while maintaining data security.

The role is hybrid in Phoenix, requiring 5+ years of payroll experience with leadership. A Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on payroll experience including multi-state & multi-entity.
• Experience leading a payroll team.
• Strong Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, large datasets).
• Knowledge of federal & multi-state payroll tax and wage/hour law; ability to resolve agency notices.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, HR, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end multi-state, multi-entity payroll operations; ensure accurate, on-time, compliant payroll.
• Lead, coach, and develop the Payroll Specialist team.
• Resolve complex payroll tax matters and agency notices.
• Lead payroll integration for mergers & acquisitions; stand up new entities.
• Manage ADP Workforce Now configuration, upgrades, testing, and vendor relations.
• Document and improve payroll SOPs, controls, and audit-readiness across entities.
• Oversee W-2/941, external audits, and unemployment/workers' comp reporting.
• Collaborate with HR, Benefits, Accounting, and Legal on payroll policies.
• Set service standards for payroll support and handle escalated cases.
• Report payroll metrics and risks to People Operations leadership; drive improvements.
