Smith Gardens is seeking a Payroll Coordinator to join our Accounting Department in Bellingham, WA. This role supports the Payroll Specialist with multi-state and H-2A payroll tasks, tax reporting, and garnishments in a busy year-round office environment.

Ideal candidates have AA/Accounting training and 5 years of payroll experience, with strong Excel, Word, and accounting software skills. We offer competitive benefits and a path for growth.

Qualifications

• AA degree or certificate in Accounting or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of payroll experience across multiple states.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook and accounting software.
• Professional customer service attitude for internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Process multi-state payroll in tandem with the Payroll Specialist.
• Process H2A employee payroll in tandem with the Payroll Specialist.
• Assist with annual H-2A wage reconciliation and tax reporting (W-2, etc.).
• Respond to garnishments, child support orders, and other withholdings.
• Coordinate with HRGs on payroll related issues.
• Prepare and remit payroll tax deposits/payments on schedule.
• Bi-weekly submission of 401K, HSA and garnishments.
• Maintain confidentiality of payroll data; support audits as needed.
