Job summary

Frederick Community College seeks a Student Assistant to support the MOSAIC Center programs and the Office of Student Affairs. The role focuses on planning, organizing, and evaluating events that celebrate culture and diversity while reflecting inclusive values across campus.

You will work with the Manager for Engagement & Belonging to design, implement, and assess programs such as Beyond Strangers and Courageous Conversations, ensuring accessibility and meaningful student involvement.

Qualifications

  • Must be a current FCC student.
  • Experience with diverse student and community populations.
  • History of seeking to understand differences.
  • Prior usage of data, survey results, or best practices to inform decision making.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and think of next steps.

Responsibilities

  • Gather information from the campus community to determine themes for art displays, cultural celebrations, Beyond Strangers, and Courageous Conversations events.
  • Assist in planning how events will unfold as well as date, time, and locations.
  • Help make flyers and other advertisements and inform diverse student groups of the event.
  • Assist with the logistics on the day of the event.
  • Gather and analyze feedback for the event to give recommendations for future events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

* This position is for current FCC students only * This position supports the MOSAIC Center programs and the strategic operation of the Office of Student Affairs. The MOSAIC Center Student Assistant aids the Manager for Engagement & Belonging in the conceptualization, planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating of the various programs in the MOSAIC Center. This position requires the ability to use various styles, techniques, and approaches that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture, background, race, religion, ability, sex, and familial status.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Gather information from the campus community to determine themes for art displays, cultural celebrations, Beyond Strangers, and Courageous Conversations events.
  2. Assist in planning how events will unfold as well as date, time, and locations.
  3. Help make flyers and other advertisements as well as inform diverse student groups of the event.
  4. Assist with the logistics on the day of the event.
  5. Gather and analyze feedback for the event to give recommendations for future events.
  6. Other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications
  1. Must be a current FCC student
  2. Experience with diverse student and community populations
  3. History of seeking to understand differences
  4. Prior usage of data, survey results, or best practices to inform decision making
  5. Strong organizational skills
  6. Ability to work independently and think of next steps
Desired Qualifications
  1. Experience organizing and implementing events is a plus
  2. Past experience creating visuals with the intent of informing an audience is a plus
Work Schedule

10 hours per week during normal business hours, and flexible around class schedules.
