Job summary

Hancock Whitney in Houston, TX seeks an experienced Mortgage Loan Originator to originate portfolio loans including conventional, FHA, VA and USDA, ensuring compliance with investor requirements and federal/state laws while promoting bank products to clients in the community.

You will advise borrowers, maintain a clean loan pipeline, coordinate with processors and underwriters, gather documentation, explain closing costs, and stay current with underwriting policies and industry regulations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree preferred.
2 years of sales experience required.
2+ years of Mortgage origination experience preferred.
NMLS registration required (SAFE Act).
Knowledge of mortgage laws, procedures, rules and regulations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
Excellent communication, analytical, customer service and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel and strong presentation skills.

Responsibilities

Provides expert mortgage advice to potential borrowers.
Stays current with underwriting policy, investor guidelines, and applicable laws.
Develops and maintains referral networks with Realtors, builders and community sources.
Manages a clean loan pipeline coordinating with processors, underwriters and closers.
Delivers all compliance documents and disclosures in a timely manner.
Takes a complete application and collects all required documentation.
Interviews applicants to document income, debt and credit history.
