Job summary

Consumers Credit Union is seeking a motivated Collector to support the Collections department in managing our consumer lending and mortgage portfolios. The role involves contacting delinquent members, collecting on payments or collateral, and delivering exceptional member service.

You will work within a team, following industry regulations, and leverage knowledge of our products and policies to optimize recovery while protecting member confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Familiar with consumer, business and real estate collection processes.
• Knowledge of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and related regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to listen attentively and show empathy towards members.
• Attention to detail in documenting calls and actions.
• Comfortable navigating multiple software environments.
• Understanding of credit union history and policies.

Responsibilities

• Meet assigned collection goals as set by the Collection Manager.
• Make collection calls to delinquent members across consumer, business and real estate portfolios.
• Place detailed collection notes on all delinquent accounts.
• Counsel delinquent members regarding debts and repayment options.
• Occasionally perform on-site field calls as needed.
• Follow servicing guidelines for delinquent mortgages.
• Assist in other areas as directed by supervisor.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Consumers products and services.
• Uphold member confidentiality.
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment.
