Job summary

NRT Bus, Inc. is seeking a School Van Monitor to support student transportation for families in the community. This part-time role offers 20-25 hours per week with a starting pay of $18.54 per hour, effective 8/24/26.

You will assist students, ensure their safety, and communicate with families and school staff. Responsibilities include helping students board, using seat belts and car seats, and maintaining a positive, safety-focused demeanor.

Qualifications

• Age 18+ required.
• Ability to pass background check (CORI/SORI) and drug screen.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

• Safely assist students entering/exiting the vehicle and securing them in seats.
• Monitor student behavior and report safety concerns to management.
• Communicate clearly with students, parents, teachers, and Van Pool staff.
• Use Van Pool’s two-way radio system for inter-staff communication.
• Install car seats and booster seats when needed.
• Follow directions from supervisors and work with school-age children with special needs.

What We Offer:

• Split Shifts- 5:30am-9:00am & 1:00pm-5:00pm (example only, exact hours depend on assigned route)

Requirements

• Effectively communicate in English (spoken and written)

What You’ll Be doing:

• Safely assist students as needed. This includes helping them enter and exit the vehicle, using the vehicle’s lap and shoulder belts, and safely securing them in car seats and booster seats. Lifting may be required.
• Monitor student behavior to provide appropriate guidance, feedback, and direction when necessary. Report unsafe and inappropriate student behavior to management; follow directions and implement corrective steps as assigned.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly in (English) with students, parents, teachers, and Van Pool staff.
• Must demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills while using Van Pool’s two-way radio system.
• Must have the physical capability to safely install car seats and booster seats.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal directions and instructions from supervisors.
• Must demonstrate a willingness to work effectively with school age children with special needs.
