Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a phlebotomy technician to greet patients, collect and label blood specimens, and ensure accurate processing in the LIS and EPIC systems. You may also perform glucose monitoring and related clerical tasks.

Responsibilities include maintaining documentation for regulatory compliance, supporting physicians and nurses, keeping the workspace organized, and assisting with training. A high school diploma and phlebotomy certification (or eligibility) within 6 months are required;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior phlebotomy experience desired.
• Phlebotomy Certification (PBT) or eligibility within 6 months of hire; CPR/BLS within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and performs phlebotomy to collect blood specimens.
• Identifies and labels specimens accurately.
• Accessions and processes specimens; delivers to laboratory sections.
• Performs blood glucose monitoring.
• Maintains documentation to meet regulatory requirements.
• Answers questions from physicians and nurses regarding testing.
• Performs clerical duties related to lab/radiology orders via EPIC and LIS.
• May participate in teaching and training.
• Keeps work area clean and organized; ensures adequate inventory.
