Job summary

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and performs phlebotomy to collect blood specimens.
• Identifies and labels specimens accurately.
• Accessions specimens, processes specimens and delivers to the appropriate laboratory section.
• Performs blood glucose monitoring.
• Responds to questions from physicians and nurses regarding laboratory testing.
• Performs laboratory/radiology clerk duties to include answering the telephone, releasing lab and x-ray orders from EPIC, and order entry in LIS of orders from non-Mercy physicians.
• May participate in teaching and training.
• Keeps work area clean and organized.
• Assures adequate inventory of supplies.
