Job summary

Akumin Inc. in Siler City, NC is seeking a Patient Coordinator for our mobile radiology unit at UNC Chatham Hospital. You will deliver friendly patient care, register patients, verify insurance, collect payments, and help patients understand what to expect before and after procedures.

Prioritize accuracy, HIPAA compliance, and teamwork across mobile and fixed sites. Local travel may be required; CPR is required prior to hire; a high school diploma and valid driver''s license are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire.
• Valid state driver''s license required.
• Ability to work at several locations and travel locally.
• Strong customer service skills and organizational abilities.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Register patients in various systems and ensure complete and accurate information.
• Answer calls professionally and courteously.
• Collect payments for time-of-service patient responsibility.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization when needed.
• Provide patients with preliminary and post‑procedure instructions.
• Transport patients to/from exam rooms and assist with transfers.
• Maintain a clean and organized mobile work area and stock supplies.
• Ensure accurate documentation of patient visits and records in electronic systems.
