Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is seeking an Outreach and Engagement Assistant to support mobile outreach and housing services across rural Washington County. You will perform intensive case management, coordinate referrals, and help clients navigate housing options and community resources.

Minimum education includes a high school diploma with preferred associates degree. Strong communication, bilingual abilities (Spanish preferred), and data reporting skills are required."

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED; Associates degree strongly preferred.
• 2+ years of relevant nonprofit social services experience preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
• Strong human relations skills; trauma-informed care; community building and motivational interviewing skills are preferred, (but training available).

Responsibilities

• Follow a prescribed schedule to reach the homeless population in Washington County with coordination of other agencies.
• Maintain and update Master service/referral information lists for partners in Washington County.
• Conduct initial assessments and develop rapport with clients.
• Provide intensive housing assistance including comprehensive assessments and case management to develop housing plans.
• Track, analyze and report data for county and donors; travel throughout rural WA County as needed.
