Job summary

Cox Fleet in Rhode Island is seeking a Mobile Diesel Technician II to perform DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field setting. You will document findings using TRAIT on an iOS device and work with a service truck on the road.

This role offers weekly pay, a take-home service vehicle, and comprehensive benefits. Requirements include a HS Diploma/GED with related experience, ASE T8 certification within 18 months,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field, or 5 years’ experience.
• Own set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties.
• ASE certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
• DOT/FMCSA regulated pre-employment background and DOT physical.
• DOT medical card valid with a minimum remaining period; or plan for DOT physical.
• Due to interstate commerce, candidate must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain/maintain a Driver Qualification File.

Responsibilities

• Perform PM, DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in mobile/field environment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, braking, cooling, engines, and transmissions on trucks.
• Inspect, test, and listen to equipment to diagnose malfunctions using handheld tools and gauges.
• Road test vehicles to confirm repairs and functionality.
• Manage parts inventory on the service truck and reconcile periodically.
• Document RO findings and parts used via TRAIT on an iOS device.
• Complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
• Work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain high productivity.
• Source parts from approved local and national vendors as needed.
• Communicate with management for approvals on repair estimates.
