Job summary

Cox Fleet is hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II in Oakland, CA, to perform licensed DOT inspections, preventive maintenance, and light-to-mid repairs in a mobile/field environment. The role emphasizes diagnosing Electrical/Brake/Cooling systems, engine electronics, and transmissions while upholding safety standards.

Candidates must have a HS diploma or GED with 3–5 years of related experience, and ASE T8 certification within 18 months.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ related experience, or 5 years’ related field experience.
• ASE T8 (PMI) certification expected within 18 months of hire.
• Must be able to pass DOT pre-employment screening and DOT physical.

Responsibilities

• Perform DOT inspections and preventive maintenance on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field setting.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, braking, cooling, and engine systems on trucks and trailers.
• Inspect vehicles, test systems, road test to verify repairs, and document findings on RO using a tablet.
• Manage parts inventory on the service truck and coordinate with management for approvals and purchases.
• Maintain safety and compliance with OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
