Job summary

Cox Automotive Fleet Services is hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II to perform DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and light to moderate repairs in a field/mobile setting. The role requires ASE T8 certification within 18 months, a valid DOT medical card, and a current driver’s license with potential CDL Class C.

You will work across a national service footprint with company-issued tools and a TRAIT app for documentation.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required; may have alternative combos with related discipline
• ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months of hire
• DOT pre-employment background screening and medical exam required
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain CDL Class C
• DOT/ FMCSA-regulated requirements must be met within stated timelines

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled PM, DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on mobile fleet in field
• Diagnose and repair electrical, braking, cooling, engine and hydraulic systems
• Inspect, test, and diagnose defective equipment using handheld test devices
• Road test vehicles to verify repair quality and safety
• Maintain and manage parts inventory for service truck and tools
• Document work on RO using TRAIT app and upload photos
• Communicate with management to obtain approvals on estimates and RO findings
• Adhere to safety, health and environmental policies and DOT regulations
