Job summary

CoxFleet, headquartered in Indianapolis, is hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II to perform DOT inspections, preventive maintenance, and diagnostics in a mobile/field setting. You will handle light to heavy‑duty vehicles, follow safety protocols, and document work via the TRAIT system on an iOS device.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma/GED plus 3 years’ related field experience, or 5 years in related field
• Must possess hand tools for duties
• ASE T8 (PMI) certification to be obtained within 18 months
• DOT/FMCSA pre-employment screening and DOT physical required
• DOT medical card acceptable if valid >4 months remains
• Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate operations
• Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain Driver Qualification File; Class C license required
• This role follows DOT regulations and safety standards

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled PMs and DOT inspections on light to heavy-duty vehicles in mobile/field environments
• Carry out minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment (electrical, brakes, cooling, engine, transmissions, etc.)
• Diagnose and repair electrical, braking, cooling, engine, and hydraulic systems
• Inspect, test, and listen to equipment; use test instruments and gauges
• Road test vehicles to verify diagnostics and repairs
• Manage parts inventory on service truck and reconcile periodically
• Conduct pre/post-trip safety checks and operate service vehicle safely
• Communicate with clients to assess needs and provide estimates or approvals
• Document work and upload RO findings using TRAIT app on iOS device
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies
