Job summary

Rush Truck Centers is seeking an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to support our fleet at client locations. You will perform maintenance and diagnostics on heavy trucks, handle on-site service calls, and ensure documentation is complete and accurate.

The role requires 5 years of Class 7/8 experience, CDL preferred, and ASE certifications are a plus. You will join a leading network in the commercial vehicle industry with opportunities for growth and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
  • Current CDL preferred but not required.
  • Medical card as required by FMVS.
  • Mechanical aptitude and technical ability required.
  • Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, & ASE certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
  • Handle basic maintenance of the truck including fueling, oil checks, cleanliness, and required inspections.
  • Manage inventory control on the service truck and for the vehicle.
  • Report to the Service Manager and perform daily duties as assigned.
  • Remain available for after-hours service calls and open work schedule.
  • Maintain and inventory the tools for diesel engine trucks and related equipment.
  • Read job orders and determine malfunction to plan procedures.
  • Use diagnostic equipment to identify issues and determine repair procedures.
  • Diagnose and replace components such as injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, bearings, oil pans, transmissions, etc.
  • Perform diagnostic and documentation functions in company computer system.
  • Inspect guards, bolts, and safety devices and make adjustments.
  • Lubricate moving parts and verify compliance with specs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance as requested.
  • Submit paperwork accurately and timely in the mobile service program.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and foster positive relations.
  • Advise customers on repairs to be performed within 3 months.
  • Participate in training and apply it on the job.
