Job summary

Rush Truck Centers is seeking an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to maintain client fleets and perform on-site service calls at customer locations. You will manage service-truck inventory, complete inspections, and document work accurately while communicating repair needs to customers.

Ideal candidates have 5 years of Class 7/8 technician experience, relevant certifications, and proficiency with diagnostic tools. CDL is preferred but not required; excellent benefits accompany the role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
• Current CDL preferred but not required.
• Medical card as required by the FMVS.
• Mechanical aptitude and technical ability required.
• Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, ASE certifications preferred & rewarded.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Handle basic maintenance of the truck including fueling, oil checks, cleaning, and required inspections.
• Manage inventory control on the service truck and for stocking.
• Report to the Service Manager and be assigned daily duties.
• Maintain after-hours availability for service calls and open work schedule.
• Maintain and inventory tools for diesel truck maintenance.
• Read job orders and determine malfunction and plan procedures.
• Diagnose with diagnostic equipment and perform proper repair procedures.
• Replace injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads and other parts.
• Document work in the company computer system and submit paperwork timely.
• Inspect safety devices and adjust as needed.
• Foster positive customer relations and inform of recommended repairs.
• Advise on repairs to be performed within the next 3 months.
• Participate in training and apply it on the job.
