Job summary

Cox Automotive in Tampa, FL is hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II to perform DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance, and light-to-heavy repairs in a mobile/field setting.

You will diagnose and repair electrical, braking, cooling and engine systems, document work with our TRAIT app, and manage parts on the service truck. A HS diploma plus related experience is required, with ASE T8 within 18 months and a valid DOT medical card.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED with 3 years in related field
• DOT/FMCSA compliance experience or awareness
• ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months
• DOT medical card or ability to obtain
• Valid state driver’s license and clean driving record
• Ability to lift and perform moderately heavy labor

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled PMs, DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on various vehicle classes in mobile/field environment
• Diagnose and repair electrical, braking, cooling and engine systems
• Test and road test vehicles to verify repairs and compliance
• Manage parts inventory and company-issued service truck items
• Document work using iOS device and TRAIT application, upload RO details
• Communicate estimates and approvals with management and customers
• Maintain safety checks, pre-/post-trip inspections, and DOT compliance
• Follow company policies and maintain productivity within standard repair times
• Obtain parts from vendors and coordinate with support teams
• Maintain service vehicle and equipment in good working order
