Job summary

BestCare Treatment Services, Inc. is seeking a Mobile Crisis Counselor to respond to crisis calls and provide immediate mobile support to individuals in mental health crises within the county.

You will assess risk, coordinate with peers, and link clients to appropriate services, while upholding BestCare policies and HIPAA requirements. The role requires a Master’s degree in a behavioral health field, a valid Oregon driver’s license, and CPR/First Aid certifications.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in accepted behavioral health field.
• Must meet Oregon Administrative Rules definition of a peer.
• For individuals in recovery from substance-use disorder, must have maintained continuous recovery for the previous two years at time of hire.
• Must maintain a valid Oregon Driver License or ability to obtain one and insurability for travel.

Responsibilities

• Provides crisis and risk assessment and intervention services in mobile crisis response.
• Provides immediate mobile response to individuals in mental health crisis within the county.
• Gathers information to assess risk factors for self/others and recommends safety plans.
• Assesses personal safety and coordinates law enforcement when appropriate.
• Directs the Peer team to complete comprehensive safety plans for each client.
• Provides consultation to treatment providers and emergency departments as needed.
• Facilitates linkage to mental health treatment and social services.
• Operates in a dynamic, sometimes ambiguous work environment.
• Respects client rights and maintains professional boundaries and ethics.
• Adheres to abuse reporting laws, 42 CFR, and HIPAA requirements.
• Documents and maintains EHR and completes documentation on time.
• Reviews crisis documentation completed by Peer team member.
• Collaborates with team members and community partners.
• Maintains communication with MH providers and clients for follow-up.
• Assists in referrals to respite or higher levels of care as needed.
• Acts as a role model by sharing life experiences to inspire clients.
• Addresses calls with clients needing support who may be at risk.
• Identifies client abilities and assets to empower self-management.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
