Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a 3D scanning technician in Columbus, GA. You will plan and execute handheld scans of rebar, embeds, and damaged structures on active sites, ensuring on-site data quality and safety. You’ll process data in Artec Studio and deliver meshes, reports, and CAD-ready files to clients.

Requires hands-on scanner use, CAD reading, and the ability to travel with equipment. We sponsor relevant certifications and support a growing scan-to-CAD service line.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld scanner on real projects.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio for mesh cleanup and export.
• Familiarity with CAD drawings and reading structural/fabrication drawings.
• Comfortable on active construction sites and able to travel.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel with equipment.
• Certifications such as ACI/ICC are a plus and sponsorable.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar, embeds, and structures on site.
• Control drift and verify data completeness before departure.
• Process scans in Artec Studio and export to STL/OBJ/E57/CAD formats.
• Produce deviation maps and coordinate reports against drawings.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids for reverse engineering and fit-up checks.
• Document capture procedures and maintain equipment logs.
