Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners (Artec Leo, Eva, or Space Spider) and produce scan-to-CAD outputs for concrete, steel, and fabrications. You will capture data on active sites, process with Artec Studio, and deliver meshes and reports to clients.

Expect hands-on field work, ability to travel to regional hubs, and coordination with superintendents.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects with examples.
Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software; mesh cleanup and registration.
Familiarity with CAD drawings (SolidWorks, Fusion, Inventor, or Revit).
Comfortable on active construction sites and in industrial plants; able to carry equipment, climb, and work outdoors.
Valid driver's license with acceptable record; able to travel and fly with equipment.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of sites and structures before pours or repairs.
Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlap zones.
Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export formats.
Produce deviation maps, reports, and anchor bolt coordinates against drawings or CAD.
Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering.
Document capture procedures and chain of custody; maintain equipment records.
Coordinate access, permits, and safety with site contacts; travel to regional hubs.
