Job summary

Axon seeks a Mission Engineer II to work directly with public safety agencies, turning operational challenges into working technical solutions. You’ll embed with the agency to understand workflows, then build applications and dashboards using Axon tools, APIs, and AI capabilities.

This role emphasizes delivering value, not just completing tasks, and requires onsite presence with potential travel. You’ll collaborate across Product, Engineering, Support, Deployment, Training, Mission Operations,

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years in solutions engineering, software engineering, systems, technical consulting or similar.
• Foundational software engineering capability and demonstrated experience building technical solutions.
• Working knowledge of APIs, scripting/ programming, data, testing, debugging, and modern development practices.
• Understanding of AI concepts and practical applications.
• Strong technical curiosity and ability to rapidly learn emerging platforms and tools.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CJIS compliance and satisfy agency background requirements.
• Ability to maintain onsite presence required by the engagement.

Responsibilities

• Embed with assigned agencies to understand their mission, people, workflows, systems, and priorities.
• Develop broad knowledge of the Axon ecosystem and deeper expertise in deployed products.
• Work with frontline users, technical teams, and agency leadership to uncover operational friction.
• Translate customer problems into clear technical requirements and measurable success criteria.
• Identify opportunities for AI, automation, data, and Axon capabilities to improve agency operations.
• Become a go-to technical resource and coordinate with Axon teams as needed.
• Drive adoption and measure results against agreed success criteria.
