Job summary

Goodwill Central Coast is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to lead daily retail operations, coach team members, and deliver an outstanding donor and customer experience. The role requires a customer-focused leader who can drive sales and maintain store standards in a fast-paced environment.

You will oversee staff, handle cash transactions, and ensure compliance with policies while supporting the mission to turn donations into opportunity for the Central Coast community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 1 year of retail sales experience; leadership preferred.
• Experience operating cash registers and handling cash transactions.
• Strong customer service, communication, and team leadership skills.
• English communication required; basic Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee store operations in the Store Manager's absence.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and ongoing training to store team members.
• Deliver exceptional customer and donor service.
• Assist customers with product selections and complete sales transactions.
• Perform opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and bank deposit functions.
• Monitor sales floor presentation, merchandise rotation, and markdowns.
• Ensure the store remains clean, organized, and safe for customers, donors, employees, and visitors.
• Identify donated items suitable for e-commerce sales.
• Prepare donations and merchandise transfers to the processing plant.
• Communicate operational concerns, safety issues, and customer concerns to store leadership.
• Support staff performance discussions and provide feedback to the Store Manager.
• Assist with donor intake and donation processing as needed.
• Perform sanitizing, housekeeping, and other related duties as assigned.
