Job summary

The General Manager at The Salvation Army Kroc Center Chicago leads operations, facilities, business and program facets to maximize capacity and ensure financial soundness in alignment with the Salvation Army mission.

The role reports to Kroc Officers and directs day-to-day operations, budgeting, safety, and program development to serve the community and sustain high-quality guest experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Recreation Management or related field; non-profit management experience a plus.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in roles such as General Manager or Director of Operations and Business of a comprehensive recreational facility.
• Experience budgeting at least $3 million and managing a facility of 50,000+ square feet.
• Leadership and management of staff, volunteers, and diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop, monitor, and evaluate annual operating budgets.
• Provide leadership for fiscally sound programs within budget.
• Oversee budgeting, staffing, HR requirements, and business development.
• Ensure effective staff scheduling and service coverage levels.
• Develop and manage capital improvement plans with leadership.
• Ensure purchasing, supply, and equipment needs are met.
• Enforce safety policies and maintenance procedures.
• Collaborate with HR to maintain staff policies and manuals.
