Job summary

Stantec is seeking an experienced Mine Technical Services Manager for a Western US position, based in one of our offices, with a strong mining background across open pit and underground projects.

You’ll lead North American resource geology, mining, advisory and mineral processing teams, delivering technical and economic solutions, with a focus on business development and client relationships. Travel ~10% is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a B.S. in Mining Engineering or related field.
• Master of Business Administration is an asset.
• A minimum of 20 years of relevant study/project and/or program management experience.
• Direct study experience in the mining and or heavy industry sectors is required.
• Existing professional registration is preferred or ability to pursue during the first year of employment (PE, PG, and/or QP).

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and direct a team of professionals in planning and execution from high level studies to full execution.
• Engage in business development with external relationships and key clients.
• Contribute to an innovative and collaborative work environment.
• Regularly interface with clients on project technical issues.
• Serve as a program manager, account manager, and/or project sponsor on key accounts.
• Define scope and execution plans with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Enhance study management processes including risk and value management.
• Peer review and Qualified Person responsibilities.
• Assist clients in presenting study progress and outcomes.
• Understand and implement stage gate study processes.
• Perform QA/QC on projects and peers.
• Mentor junior staff and support talent on hiring.
• Some travel to client sites or other Stantec offices (~10%).
