Job summary

Placements24 is assisting a mining operation in Upington, Northern Cape, seeking a Mine Safety Officer focused on health, safety and environmental management. You will develop and monitor HSEQ policies, conduct site inspections, investigate incidents, train staff, and promote a strong safety culture across the operation.

The role requires MHSA knowledge, risk assessment expertise, and the ability to work independently at multiple mine sites with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Safety or Environmental Management.
• SAMTRAC or equivalent OHS qualification is essential.
• Registered with a relevant professional body (e.g., SAIOSH).
• Minimum of 4 years of mine safety, health, and environmental experience.
• Strong knowledge of MHSA and environmental legislation.
• Experience in risk assessments, incident investigations, and audits.
• Excellent communication and training abilities.
• Proficiency with safety software and standard office apps.
• Willingness to travel to multiple mine sites in the Northern Cape.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain safety and environmental systems.
