Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead Occupational Hygienist for an on-site role in East London, Eastern Cape. You will develop and implement comprehensive hygiene programs across mining operations, identifying hazards and ensuring compliance with SA legislation.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree, SAIOH registration, and at least 7 years in occupational hygiene, with strong leadership and communication skills to drive safety across teams and sites.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Occupational Hygiene or related field.
• Minimum 7 years in occupational hygiene, preferably mining or heavy industry.
• Professional SAIOH registration is essential.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement occupational hygiene programs to monitor and control exposure.
• Conduct workplace risk assessments, including noise surveys and air sampling.
• Develop strategies for controlling exposures and implementing preventative measures.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and standards.
• Provide expert advice and training to management and employees.
• Investigate incidents and health concerns, recommending corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate monitoring records and training activities.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, medical practitioners, and external consultants.
• Stay abreast of advancements in occupational hygiene practices.
