Job summary

Lhoist North America is seeking a Mine Engineer to lead surveying and mapping functions, support mine planning, and oversee QC data collection. You will work with the mine supervisor and team to ensure alignment with geology and safety standards while guiding interns and contractors.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong CAD and GPS skills, and the ability to manage ground control, blast patterns, and infrastructure projects in a dynamic mining environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in geology, mining, or related engineering / technical degree (or equivalent experience).
• BS/MS in Mining Engineering or Geology preferred.
• Experience in surface mining with leadership or supervision is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate survey control and oversee alignment checks; ensure mapped data is archived per standards.
• Update and publish mine maps regularly; provide 3D locations of mine workings.
• Lead STMP updates and development of tactical 14 Day Dig Maps to stay on budget.
• Ensure safety standards and coordinate with geologist and Lab Manager to align geology with mining plans.
• Provide technical support for mine infrastructure and project management from design to closure.
