Job summary

Lhoist North America is seeking a Mine Engineering professional to lead surveying, mapping, and planning in our mining operations. The role involves supervising interns and contractors, coordinating with mine supervisors, and delivering accurate three-dimensional mine data to support production and safety goals.

The candidate will drive short- and long-term mine planning, reconciliation, and infrastructure development while ensuring MSHA compliance and safe, efficient operation across all shifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in geology, mining, or related engineering/technical field.
• Progressive technical responsibility in surface mining; leadership or supervision preferred.
• Experience with CAD-based software and GPS surveying tools is expected.

Responsibilities

• Champion safety and lead inspections and training.
• Oversee mapping and survey function, updating mine maps monthly and providing 3D locations of mine workings.
• Support STMP, MTMP, LTMP planning and reconciliation processes; develop mine/waste storage plans.
• Provide technical support for mine infrastructure, dewatering, haul roads, and power systems; ensure MSHA compliance.
• Lead project management from detailed engineering to financial closure; coordinate with vendors and ensure milestones.
