Job summary

Lhoist North America in Alabama is seeking a skilled mining engineer to lead mapping, surveying, and mine planning initiatives across current operations. You will supervise interns, technicians, and contractors, providing technical guidance to ensure safe, efficient production.

Responsibilities include updating short-, mid-, and long-term mine plans, coordinating with the mining team, geologists, and QA to align plans with geology and safety standards, and ensuring MSHA compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in geology, mining, or related engineering/technical discipline.
• 2–4 years of progressive technical responsibility in surface mining; leadership experience is a plus.
• Willingness to work in mining environments and travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Lead mapping and survey control activities per LNA standards.
• Develop and update Short Term Mine Plans and 14 Day Dig Maps.
• Coordinate with mining team to align plans with MTMP/LTMP and geology.
• Provide technical guidance for mine infrastructure and safety, and ensure MSHA compliance.
• Assist with planning and reconciliation activities and communicate effectively with teams.
