Job summary

CNA Insurance in Chicago, IL is seeking an underwriter to manage risk from submission through policy issuance for renewal and new business within limited authority. You will partner with underwriters to provide information for prudent decisions and serve as a liaison across the branch and CNA.

This role requires knowledge of Property and Casualty underwriting with strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work independently while coaching others.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Typically a minimum of three years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of Property and Casualty underwriting and insurance products.
• Strong time management and analytical skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite risk for renewal and new business within delegated authority.
• Process endorsements within authority and coordinate with underwriter.
• Manage renewal book within authority and triage applications.
• Collaborate across CNA to resolve issues (billing, risk control, SME).
• Document files ensuring completeness and quality.
• Execute advanced pricing strategy using pricing tools.
• Prepare quote proposals and negotiate with partners.
• Be first-line contact to producers/customers and identify upsell opportunities.
• Assist in marketing products and services through external partners.
• Serve as system/workflow expert and train others.
• Stay current on line of business strategy and regulations.
