Job summary

CNA in New York is seeking an experienced underwriter to manage underwriting risk for renewal and new business within limited authority, coordinating with underwriters and agencies to obtain essential information.

Responsibilities include handling endorsements, renewals, pricing strategy, and proposals, while serving as a resource and coach to colleagues. The role requires staying current on regulations and line of business strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of three years related work experience.
• Knowledge of Property and Casualty underwriting.

Responsibilities

• Underwriting analysis and documentation for renewal and new business.
• Handle endorsements within delegated authority; escalate outside authority.
• Triage renewal apps/specs and outline changes for accounts outside authority.
• Collaborate with branch and CNA to resolve issues (billing, risk control, guidance).
• Document files for completeness and quality (proposals, endorsements, cancellations).
• Execute pricing strategy using pricing tools in line with underwriting strategies.
• Complete quote proposals and negotiate within authority.
• Serve as first-line contact to producers/customers for account matters and upsell opportunities.
• Assist in marketing products and services through external partners and field visits.
• Be a system and workflow expert; train and coach others; provide feedback to underwriting partners.
• Stay current on line of business strategy, state issues, regulations and trends.
