Moffatt & Nichol, a leading waterfront infrastructure firm, seeks a mid‑level Structural Engineer to deliver design, analysis and construction support for navy, port and coastal projects in Norfolk, VA. 4–7 years of experience and a PE are preferred; relocation and travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related is required; Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis preferred.
• Professional Engineer licensure is required; ability to obtain in the State of Virginia within 6 months of hire.
• 4 to 7 years of experience designing a wide range of structural projects; waterfront experience preferred.
• NAVFAC waterfront project experience preferred.
• Knowledge of UFC (Unified Facilities Criteria) for operational and extreme load conditions preferred.
• Willingness to perform construction oversight on local job sites; valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural analysis, modeling, capacity calculations and calculation reports.
• Design and detailing for waterfront structures including concrete, steel, timber; projects may include NAVFAC SIOP items, commercial shipyards and piers.
• Perform field investigations, site visits and inspections; ensure work complies with contract documents.
• Support designer of record with submittals, RFI, Change Orders and related processes.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to QA/QC on projects.
