Moffatt & Nichol in Tampa, FL is seeking a civil engineer with structural coursework to join our waterfront practice. You will work with our local team on projects such as ports, Navy facilities, marinas, and cruise destinations, contributing to the structural design of large-scale waterfront structures.

The role provides exposure to marine structural analysis, finite element modeling, and collaboration with engineers and drafters, with training under senior staff and opportunities to grow

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with Structural coursework required.
• Master of Science in Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis strongly preferred.
• Entry level to 2+ years of experience; heavy civil, structural, or marine/waterfront design experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the conceptual development and design of waterfront structural projects across various industries including container shipping, defense, bulk material handling, oil and gas, and marinas
• Performs structural analysis, design, and detailing of concrete, steel, and timber structures
• Analyzes static and dynamic loading on laterally performing structures, including the impact of soil-structure interaction
• Develops finite element models of marine structures using software such as SAP2000 or similar
• Prepares calculations and documents information for completed designs
• Coordinates and develops structural drawings with engineers and drafters
• Performs site visits and inspections of existing structures to evaluate existing conditions and prepares condition assessment reports
• Assists with construction administration including periodic site visits and review of shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals
• Supports quantity takeoffs for construction cost estimating
• Learns by attending and participating in meetings and conference calls with clients and project team members
