Job summary

WSP is seeking an Intermediate Substation Structural Designer for our Power Delivery Civil/Structural Group. The position involves local technical design and CADD support on projects across Freeport, ME or NY/MI locations, delivering precise drawings, reports, and material lists.

Responsibilities include collaborating with engineers, verifying calculations, and ensuring code compliance while maintaining safety and quality. Travel may be required to project sites.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years post-education design/drafting experience.
• Familiar with drafting/design principles and industry standards.
• Familiar with codes/regulations and record-keeping.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to learn new techniques and work independently or in a team.
• Willingness to travel as project needs require.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to local technical design and CADD support for substation projects.
• Produce accurate drawings, reports, design manuals, and material lists.
• Verify calculations and interpret contract plans with minimal supervision.
• Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams on project phases.
• Ensure plans comply with city, state, and federal regulations.
• Prepare multiple design versions for review by engineers.
• Maintain quality and adhere to design standards and safety policies.
