Job summary

GHD is seeking an Intermediate Environmental Engineer/Geologist/Environmental Scientist to support the Contaminated Assessment Remediation (CAR) group in Farmington Hills, MI. The role combines field oversight, data interpretation, and technical reporting for regulatory compliance.

You will work with a team of engineers and scientists on site investigations, remediation planning, and client engagement, balancing scope, schedule, and budget while ensuring safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Applied Science (Engineering, Geology, or Science)
• 5-10 years’ experience including a mix of field activities (sampling/oversight), data evaluation and interpretation and technical report writing
• Professional Designation/License (Engineer, Geologist, etc.) a plus
• Self-starter, detail oriented, and willingness to work in a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to travel for short durations which may include overnight travel
• Experience preparing detailed regulatory work plans and reports for investigation, remediation, and closure.
• Understanding of multimedia remedial technologies for addressing a variety of environmental contaminants including VOCs, SVOCs, metals, PCBs and PFAS.
• Experience coordinating and managing multiple tasks in a consulting environment.
• Knowledge of site characterization, hydrogeologic analysis and remediation of contaminants in soil, vapor, indoor air and groundwater.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and project management services to our clients on a variety of projects
• Prepare technical correspondence, project proposals, technical reports, work plans, and project specifications including cost estimates and budgets
• Conduct environmental sampling and monitoring for various media and contaminants of concern
• Be available for occasional after-hours response to environmental emergencies to perform field tasks
• Complex problem solving related to environmental remediation and economic decision making
• Data compilation, reduction, interpretation, evaluation/comparison to environmental regulatory standards
• Interact with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors and service providers
• Balance scope, schedule, and budget to produce the best results for our clients
• Participate in a proactive safety culture of continuous improvement
• Maintain solid safety minded behavior and practices.
