Job summary

WD is seeking an experienced Metrology Equipment Engineering Manager to lead a team supporting wafer manufacturing operations in San Jose and Fremont. You will set technical direction, oversee performance, and drive continuous improvement of the wafer metrology equipment fleet.

You will serve as the primary escalation point and balance line availability with quality risk and resource capacity. You will partner with manufacturing, process integration, quality, and equipment suppliers to ensure

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline; MS preferred.
• 7+ years in metrology or semiconductor equipment engineering.
• 2+ years of people management or leadership experience.
• Hands-on with wafer metrology equipment (optical, SEM, etc.).
• Strong data analysis and measurement system skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor Metrology Equipment Engineers and set performance expectations.
• Own escalation and rapid resolution of metrology issues.
• Drive continuous improvement, AI-assisted analysis, and tooling adoption.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to ensure uptime.
• Develop capacity planning, staffing, and roadmap alignment.
