Job summary

Washington Gas is seeking a hands-on Supervisor, Meter Services to lead a field-based team responsible for meter reading, ERT maintenance, audits, inside leak surveys, and customer service activities. You will promote safety and ensure work meets regulatory requirements.

The role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to respond to emergencies and support 24/7 operations; schedule is Monday–Friday 6:00 AM–3:00 PM and on-call readiness.

Qualifications

• Five years of natural gas/utility operations or customer service experience.
• Two+ years of supervisory or team lead experience.
• Strong safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in data analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee meter services operations including meter reading, maintenance, audits, inside leak surveys, and customer appointment activities.
• Monitor performance using SAP, Itron, RouteSmart, Click and similar systems to manage work activities and meter reading statistics.
• Supervise meter reading, AMR, ERT replacement, routing, and inside leak survey operations for compliance.
• Assign and oversee meter reading orders, customer appointments, investigations, leak grading activities, and account routing.
• Investigate and resolve account, billing, and customer service issues.
• Research customer account and device information within SAP and related systems.
• Develop and improve departmental processes, work practices, and employee training programs.
• Prepare reports and documentation for audits and compliance activities.
• Monitor contractor performance and collaborate with contractors and business partners to support operational goals.
• Provide field leadership by coaching employees and promoting safe work practices.
