Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a customer-focused leader to guide operations in our store department. You will mentor team members, ensure a superior shopping experience, and help achieve sales and service goals while maintaining Meijer standards.

Responsibilities include coordinating daily tasks, training new staff, managing inventory, and upholding food safety and quality guidelines. A proactive, inclusive approach is valued in this role.

Qualifications

• Passion for customer service and total engagement with customers and peers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Retail or customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to influence others and build rapport quickly.

Responsibilities

• Engage peers to provide the best possible shopping experience, including checkout.
• Communicate with team members and assign daily tasks.
• Mentor and coach team members to meet customer service and sales goals.
• Support training and cross-training of staff to improve productivity.
• Assist with department scheduling to improve engagement, service, and store profitability.
• Ensure product freshness by monitoring rotation and dating policies.
• Guide the team on food safety standards and safe work practices.
• Lead ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and product displays where applicable.
• Foster an inclusive Meijer culture valuing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Operate a register and cash handling when needed; operate powered equipment as applicable.
• Participate in period end inventories to help achieve goals.
• May act in Lead capacity in other departments as needed.
