Job summary

Skanska USA is seeking a Preconstruction/Design Manager - MEP in Portland to lead multi‑discipline estimating, risk management, and value optimization for Design‑Build and other delivery models.

You will coordinate with design teams, operations, and business development to ensure accurate estimates, manage scope, budget, and schedule, and build strong subcontractor relationships while upholding Skanska’s values.

Qualifications

• 7+ years leading preconstruction/estimating or MEP teams.
• 5+ years producing and reviewing detailed cost estimates with advanced tools.
• 5+ years risk management, contract review, and value management.
• 5+ years coordinating design, operations, and business development.
• 1+ year experience with Value Management processes.
• Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or equivalent/applicable degree; or 8 years equivalent experience and minimum 7 years prior relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preconstruction process and resources to deliver high-quality, cost-effective services.
• Produce and review detailed MEP cost estimates; coordinate civil, structural, architectural, and MEP disciplines.
• Collaborate with design, operations, and business development; challenge design assumptions and track value-management options.
• Develop subcontractor relationships to optimize project outcomes.
• Guide the design process from pursuit through construction; ensure scope, cost, schedule and quality objectives are achieved.
• Act as a champion for Skanska’s values and maintain confidentiality in preconstruction deliverables.
